๐House-Keeping:
We're doing our best. One thing to understand about us is that we all maintain day-jobs while attempting to build this podcast into something terrific for you to enjoy. Try as we might, we're going to fall short for a whole host of reasons, be it moving into a new place, pulling late night shifts every day for the past week, technical difficulties (we've had many, as of late), familial obligations, etc. Case in point, our episode covering The Walking Dead's Season 11 Season Premiere, Acheron: Part I is still not out. While that does tremendously bite us in the rear-end, there are two saving graces:
The Unedited Episode Recording has been available for almost a week, now, for you to download and enjoy, wherever you are. Not only that, it's been made available for free, whether you've chosen to support us or not (more on that later). Download it, now, here: https://ko-fi.com/post/DOWNLOAD-NOW-RAW-Episode-144-TWD-11x01-Achero-U7U55X7DB
We've also made available both the edited and the unedited versions of our Reaction Video of TWD's Season 11 Season Premiere:
The Unedited version was released prior to free week (which I'll talk about in the next bullet point), but even had it dropped during free week, it would still only be available to members strictly because it contains the episode in question (and to make that publicly available would be a huge no-no). The best part about getting the Unedited version of the Dave Reacts video is to see the others react to Dave (which you don't normally get to see). Grab it, here: https://ko-fi.com/post/DOWNLOAD-NOW-DAVE-REACTS-TWD-11x01-Acheron-Pa-Z8Z85WIBY
And, of course, the finished product:
FREE WEEK. On Monday, we took a pretty bold step (in prep towards even bigger changes) by making the content we would normally lock for supporters-only available to all who follow us on Ko-fi. Did we post these updates (links to the free Unedited Episode recordings or the behind the scenes phots) on Social Media? No. Have we consistently advised others to merely create a Ko-fi account to follow us, so that you don't miss out on moments like these? Yes. And there's a good reason why: we want you to want to follow our journey. We're not going to bribe you with giveaways or artificially sweeten the pot in order to entice you. Think about it: what would be the point? We make our perks pretty clear and they are fairly grounded within the realm of what we do as a podcast (Early Access to Unedited Episode Recordings, Lending your insights while we record, the ability to join us on stream during our Jackbox Games sessions, and so much more). We're also not going to lie and say, "It's not about the money," because of course it is, but it's also about maintaining a sense of belonging to a project you actually love. Bribing someone into something like that is fairly unsustainable! #TWDFamily Branches: We took the opportunity to start a brand new segment on our podcast called #TWDFamily Branches. While it is an incredibly opportunity to be able to interview our immediate family in our #TWDFamily tree (the cast and crew), for longest time we've wanted actually shift the spotlight over to our cousins: the extraordinary fans. We very recently debuted our interview with Linda Peck Athens (AKA Fan Art Lindy), an artist and our friend from Oregon, and we couldn't have been more satisfied with it. The response, thus far, has been pretty stellar: the general impression is that this is something you never knew you wanted and want more of. I suppose, with the flagship show ending, this segment couldn't have come soon enough! The blog for this episode isn't up yet, but you can grab the following, directly:
The Unedited Interview: Yes, there is an unedited version of this recording! Watch us stumble through this inaugural interview, feet first, editing out tons of content along the way. Of course, you don't want to miss the beginning where Rachael nearly tears her hair out (well, if she had any) with all the false starts! You can grab that here: https://ko-fi.com/post/DOWNLOAD-NOW-NEW-SEGMENT-TWDFamily-Branches-Q5Q25HD16
And, of course (because what better way to view some of her art), the Streaming Video:
Don't call it a callback: Starting with the good news, first: because of FREE WEEK, we had a tremendous amount of people who took advantage of joining the realtime chat while we interviewed none other than Mo Collins! The best moment was her taking a second, at one point, to scour the chat for comments. It was truly gratifying to see the reciprocal love between her, the crowd, and even her husband, Alex Skuby, at one point! But, as we mentioned, briefly, in the first bullet point, we've been semi-plagued by technical difficulties. We've been unable, thus far, to make the unedited interview available because of a technical glitch. There's also been absolutely no time to fabricate a sort of pseudo-unedited recording, meantime. I'm working with Riverside.fm on trying to deliver the composed recordings, but we've not gotten anywhere, just yet. Worst case scenario, we may end up having to deliver the unedited version of this recording just before the premiere of our interview. In the meantime, enjoy this graphic we made that will link you to the original call to join us for the recording session!

Interviews: Thanks to @BlazyGardener, we were able to interview not just one, but two beloved actors from Fear The Walking Dead. I think they went particularly well and, for those of you who prefer to watch these on video, we got to try some pretty cool things (with Jenna Elfman, we simulated a WhatsApp/Facetime call; with Bobbie Grace, we experimented with multi-cam switching). Click either of the two images below to be taken to those Episodes!
"Time Away": You know when you have to spend your vacation days on something other than a vacation? ...like packing, moving, or some other, terrible thing that is not very pleasurable? A little glimpse into what's been going on behind the scenes: right around the Fear The Walking Dead Season Finale of Season 6, my wife and I received the call from our lawyers that we could finally close on the apartment we were in the process of buying for several months. It was a long process, up until this point, which started around the end of February/beginning of March. When the call finally came, it was all hands on deck: running to banks (yes, plural) the very morning of our closing (because the seller's lawyer lost our initial deposit, so we needed to withdraw the entire amount - essentially robbing ourselves), to packing (during which time, we recorded our interview with Jenna Elfman), extended our stay at our previous apartment for another week (thank goodness/our great landlord), and finally moving day (a process that was only supposed to take a maximum of 5 hours took 9 hours). And then, perhaps, the toughest part: settling in. Clearing a path to the desk, having a usable kitchen, trying to work during the day while finding some time to unpack in the evenings/weekends. So, what's the point to this rant? The point is two-fold: from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you all for hanging in there while my wife and I personally transitioned to home-ownership. Your generous contributions to SQUAWKING DEAD kept it running, while Sherrandy and Rachael kept programming going for all of us by completely setting up the interviews we recorded while I was moving, as well as writing the excellent questions we asked during these interviews. All I did was eventually find time to edit and release them (no small feat, considering everything that's been going on in my life). In closing, all of what we've managed to achieve means so much more when we have folks like you cheering us on!
Jackbox Games: A few days ago, we were lucky enough to break a record, on the podcast! We had a total of 8 folks, including myself, on stream to play Jackbox Games on our Twitch Channel. As you may or may not know, the ability to join us on stream while playing Jackbox Games is one of the perks you receive for supporting us on Ko-fi.com/SQUAWKINGDEAD! It was massive amounts of fun and I personally found myself having a hard time breathing from laughing so much by the end.
But where's the unedited episode recording?: A few days ago, we sat down and finally recorded our coverage of Fear The Walking Dead's Season 6 Season Finale. Unfortunately, for so many reasons, that episode had some massive technical difficulties. The short explanation is that the local recordings for Sherrandy & Rachael are gone, which lead to the Unedited Episode Recording being unavailable. We will be making the Unedited Episode Recording available with a massive caveat: there will be some major drift (with, mostly, Sherrandy: her video does not quite line up with both Rachael and myself). It's really the best we can do, for now. The good news is that this won't be the case for the final edit. The bad news? Because of the technical difficulties, it will take longer for that edit to finally release and the quality will not be on par with our usual episode releases.
I just want to say, to close, we have so many great ideas coming down the pike! ...primarily geared towards those of you who support our journey, but also awesome things for those who haven't yet! I don't want to say much more, lest we not have time to reveal them all within the next month (which, as it may surprise you to discover, is going to be super-duper busy).

Not much going on here, and there's a reason for that; Dave is in the midst of moving into his and his wife's new apartment. They are officially home owners! ...which means they are extremely house poor! In times like these, more than any other time, your support leaves a tangible impact on the comings-and-goings of this podcast. We are humbled in your faith in us and are emboldened by your participation.
Wondering where the Season Finale coverage is, for Fear The Walking Dead's 6th season?See the previous point: although we have all our talking points prepared, we haven't had the chance to even sit down and record! Dave has been maintaining the state of his mental health during the move-in/mostly packing process. A lot needs to be done before the Cameos can move into their new place, among them duct cleaning (completed), floor polishing/finishing, walls painted, both former and new dwellings cleaned, and belongings packed and moved into the new space.
Hold the phone: I haven't even gotten to the best part. With @BlazyGardener's help, we were able to score an interview with none other than JD herself, Jenna Elfman! Unfortunately and unlike previous interviews, we won't be having a supporter-backed audience during the recording due to both time and moderation constraints. We will be asking whether we can make the unedited interview recordings available to our supporters! Keep you posted on that!

Did you catch us at The Camp? Why not? We don't bite... much? The Camp came and went in a blur, but not without making a bunch of new friends along the way (especially from Facebook group TWD/FTWD Horror NATION), as well as affirming our present friendships. It was such a wonderful feeling, hanging out with people again, with our masks off, swimming in oxytocin. We showed off our table and even did a poorly planned and hastily executed giveaway:
We wrote about our ringtone in the last Percolation Nation, but thought it might be a great reminder to talk about it again! The ringtone is a perfectly looped version of our new Episode Intro Music, for when we were covered The Walking Dead's bonus episodes of Season 10 (and will undoubtedly be our Episode Intro Music for when we cover the final season, as well). Note: ☕Ko-fi Backers receive this free when they buy us a coffee or subscribe to a coffee a month, or more! If you've supported us, already, (first of all, thank you) and haven't picked it up yet, you can get it, here.
Can't believe we haven't caught you up on our Dave Reacts videos! For the past month and a half, we've taken a chance and entered into the Reaction Videos space. It's been a learning process and a welcome addition to our repertoire! Here are the all the videos we've done, thus far! You make this possible!
Missed our massive Livestream discussing our theories about John Dorie, Sr.?Remember to turn on all social media and YouTube Subscription notifications! We don't want to give away too much, it's just that insane, but you can catch the replay here (we recommend the Audio-Only Podcast for quality's sake, but the actual Livestream if you want to see the chat replay on screen):
If you haven't bought one, already, these #BelieveInJuneT-shirts are selling like hotcakes! In conjunction with @UnderTheFeather & @BlazyGardener, and approved by Jenna Elfman, herself, you can Direct Message @Cosmomom09 to pick up your very own #BeleiveInJune T-Shirt! This is not a SQUAWKING DEAD endeavor, but we wanted to highlight it, anyway, in light of the aforementioned emotionally-taxing watches we've had to endure!
Last, but certainly not least, after almost two years, we finally reached our funding goal! Just so you understand what that truly means: It took us almost two years to raise enough money to pay for the bare minimum of yearly expenses for one year. This is definitely a victory - how many creators can safely say they receive the funding they deserve - but let's see if we can reach that goal within a year! When we're truly self-sustaining, we can start funding more than just our yearly bills!
