We had a very pleasant chat with Bobbie Grace , AKA Ranger Samuels from Fear The Walking Dead. Our conversation with her reminded me a lot of our conversation with Peggy Schott , especially when it came to describing the feeling of belonging to a large ensemble versus a short film. And, is it any coincidence that they are both gingers? πŸ‘€
The Unedited Interview Recording is... hilarious. But more than anything else, really slows down the conversation and exposes moments of levity in between the edits. You can enjoy it here:

Bobbie Grace:
Rachael Burt:
Sherrandy Swift:
AKA: @BlazyGardener
David Cameo:

  • Introducing Bobbie Grace and her most notable projects, which you can check out here: IMDb.me/BobbieGrace.
  • What made you want to pursue acting?
  • Thoughts on the audition process and being prepped for a role vs cold-reading.

  • The challenges of playing a vampire in Silken Luna.
  • The irony of Bobbie's desire to perform in suspense/thriller genre.
  • Bobbie's inspiration, growing up.
  • Thoughts on what Ranger Samuels first name might actually be.
  • @JessicaTCos asks about the backstory Bobbie Grace created for Ranger "Six-Gun Sammie" Samuels and what affects and changes she made to both be cast (prior to) and inhabit her role (once she got the part).
Borrowing Craig Nigh's boots and pants during her audition.
  • ...and she happens to be a fan of FearTWD! She shares her favorite character(s) on FearTWD.

  • Did you have any idea what the fandom was like, prior to taking on the role?
  • Was it intentional for Samuels to appear to be a Virginia doppelganger?
  • Did she have any hand in choosing Ranger Samuels hat? The possible significance to the colors and her abandonment of them, altogether, after Ginny dies.
  • @lindy_draws_fanart wonders what prop Bobbie wanted to keep (and whether she got to keep it or any other prop).
  • What her absolute best moments on set were (Spoiler: it involves a particular animal)
  • @ajgram17 wants to know whether Victor Strand or Virginia made for a more powerful leader of The Rangers.
  • Who Bobbie Grace would team Ranger Samuels up with from The Walking Dead Universe.
  • Working with Raja Afghani (AKA Skidmark, the cat) and whether she prefers working with her human animal colleagues versus her animal co-stars.
  • Working on Short Films vs Large Ensemble television shows. What a typical day on set looks like (Spoiler: food has a special place)
  • Working with Weapons
  • The things she's learned from working on the set of Fear The Walking Dead.

[Episode 140] Interview with Jenna Elfman

Something that probably should've happened a long time ago has finally arrived: our sit-down Jenna Elfman. We mainly discuss her process, which takes us on a journey through her acting life. As she guides us through the twists and turns throughout her career, while answering some fun(ny) questions along the way, we actually walk away with some fairly essential life lessons and go much deeper into her past than I ever thought we would. We're grateful that she was able to give us so much of herself and hope to do this again, soon!
Since our interview was recorded so recently after FearTWD S6, while FearTWD S7 was filming, we decided not to make the complete, unedited interview recordings available; however, we *will* be uploading the test recording (we wanted to see how viable Riverside.fm would be as a recording solution, prior to our recording date). For all that and more, please consider (at the very least) following us here: https://Ko-fi.com/SQUAWKINGDEAD
Jenna Elfman:
Sherrandy Swift:
AKA @BlazyGardener
Rachael Burt:
David Cameo:

  • Thanking Jenna Elfman & Sherrandy Swift for all that they do for the fans.
  • Who inspires Jenna?
  • Not judging the characters you portray (or the people you watch/listen to).
  • How much of Jenna goes into a character?

  • When she mentions "connective tissue", she's referring to the following clip, which she loved on Instagram:
  • Imaginary Mary and putting herself into a selfish mindset to play the part.
  • Thomas O'Mara (@celtictso: Twitter/Instagram) asks which characters would survive the Zombie Outbreak from Dharma & Greg?

  • Crying scene secrets: the practical, methodological (damn you Edward Norton), and emotional.
  • Back to basics: (re)building both Jenna up as an actor & June Dorie up as a character, within the framework of a Zombie Apocalypse narrative.

  • Is future romance for June even possible?
  • How much control does Jenna have over June’s aesthetic?
  • The many pairs of identical ripped jeans.
  • The role of June Dorie was the long-awaited role she had always wanted to play.

  • Preparing to play the role: walking a mile in their shoes.
  • Looking the part and, down to dietary restrictions.

  • Camera operators are your real co-stars.
  • Most fun scene to shoot.
  • If you could change anything about June...? And would you play a villain?
  • Who Jenna wants June to team up with most.

  • Charlotte (@UnderTheFeather) asks what songs would be on June’s soundtrack?
  • What have you taken away from playing June? Did you ever think, 25 years ago, your career would turn out this way?
  • Other actors Jenna would like to see appear on FearTWD.
  • How a project changes - from conception to finished product - when there are too many "cooks".
  • Parting words of wisdom: Treat others they way you'd like to be treated.
