Should our protagonists(?) be thinking locally or globally? Is #SilasPlaskett's allegiance going to be tested? #JenniferMallick is starting to realize that her mother, #ElizabethKublek, might actually be a monster (and that she might be one by proxy). And terrific performance by #NicholasCantu as #EltonOrtiz, this episode!
So we definitely cut out a lot of behind the scenes moments from before and definitely after this episode. To join in the chat in our next recording, like Mario did, as well as download the unedited version of this episode, all while supporting this podcast, head here:

David Cameo:
Rachael Burt:
Sherrandy Swift:
AKA @BlazyGardener

  • [Editor's Note: Dave clearly didn't edit the beginning of this podcast]
  • Get ready to participate in our #TWDUniverse Secret Santa! DM Sherrandy to get on the list! Essentially, you will be assigned a random TWDU character, to whom you will fabricate a gift (whether it be real, photoshopped, bought in a store, said out loud - be creative/have fun)! You will have the opportunity to swap your character with other #TWDFamily member, too! Here's a look at last year's TWDU Secret Santa video:
  • The wrong end of a kill-stick/telescope. Conflict in this episode and every episode gets better.
  • What episode are we covering? Reminiscing on older SQUAWKING DEAD episode difficulties (while having current difficulties).
  • [Editor's Note: we go into a conversation about how it's possible Felix Carlucci knows Percy Delmado is gunning for Jennifer Mallick/Huck, but we know why because both he and Elton Ortiz must've caught everyone up]
  • Huck's world is crashing around her as she's realizing how much bad she's responsible for. The same may be applied to Lt. Col. Elizabeth Kublek.
  • Our theory about both Portland being in Texas (not Oregon, ties into Fear The Walking Dead nicely) and Major General Beale being Jadis/Anne are seemingly both incorrect. Is Rick Grimes Mr. Beale?!
  • Even Dave is having trouble covering for Iris Bennett, but notes the contrast of her character against others (especially Percy).
  • You hate in others what you hate in yourself: Dave strikes at the heart of why Rachael, in particular (but perhaps #TWDFamily, as well), wouldn't like Iris. We know far too much the cost of standing on principle in #TWDUniverse.
  • Watching Iris and Hope Bennett part ways was difficult. Remembering that Bennetts are teenagers (ergo: not thinking things through). Iris might be "butthurt" over not being chosen by the Civic Republic Military - or, at least, not used to Hope not being in her shadow. Things would've been worse if they would've chosen Iris (or, at least, not as interesting).
  • We're here for Dennis & Silas Plaskett's relationship. Maximilian Osinski's body would destroy Hal Cumpston's. The Culling & Maintenance kids' "training ground" is a post-apocalyptic video game.
  • Hope & Silas' path forward might be difficult. Silas, in light of this newfound family, and Hope, with the possibility of the cure. The only way out is through? Both Hope & Iris think locally and globally, in their own way.
  • It's entirely possibly that one or the other sister might die and what that might mean for the greater #TWDUniverse; Mason's Master Controller (him stepping a little out of bounds) might be useful for Hope if she joins the effort to wreck the CRM; and Portland's fate is still unclear, but Hope knows more about the CRM today than she did yesterday, and it might mess with her.
  • Speaking of Mason, it seems like he's dipping his toes in both camps: clearly has access to things and does what he's told, but steps out of bounds here and there. Mason Belshaw? Mason General Beale?
  • Silas divulges to Dennis the reason why he tries to leave the Culling & Maintenance Outpost, but understanding Dennis imparts some sage wisdom. It is still unclear whether Dennis knows the killer whom Silas is referencing (Huck), but ostensibly does not appear he's aware. We need to interview Max.
  • Pulling some cool information off of Indira's insulin bottle. Why it's important that others, like Brody, don't know she's ill (at least at this stage); parallel with Hope's childhood trauma (the irony of Elton discovering this). Dave's imagination runs wild; Fused walker in the Culling & Maintenance facility; Scott M. Gimple makes cast-members paranoid (and his spoilers suck).
  • Deconstructing the plethora of sources spurring Elton's panic attack.
  • Say what we all will about characters that we're having trouble digesting, they are nudging the conflict, so it's not all bad: Iris may actually be a psychopath while Percy becomes the responsible one?!
  • Ithaca, NY: where The Walking Dead: World Beyond's story ends. Is the Civic Republic one large city or a Confederation of settlements? Or both? The Civic Republic/The Commonwealth aware of one another?
  • Picking more bones: Leaving the Perimeter's armory unlocked.
  • The necessity of seeing (is believing) Daniel and Margaret fishing Huck our of the river in Omaha: Even Huck saved some people. Remembering Huck's father, Mr. Mallick, and what he represents to both Kublek and Huck. The significance of seeing Jennifer give herself her scar in both Season 1 and Season 2. Symmetry between Silas and Hucks scars/wounds: remembering. Huck & Dennis are married?

We're starting to notice this season, along with the darker turn the continuation of the anthology-style storytelling has taken, even the "everything gets a return" motif becomes twisted. Even though #GraceMukherjee seems to overcome her obstacles and things turn out ok for her and #MorganJones (and lil-Mo) by the end of the episode, it's just barely!
We are in rare form, these days. double the spit-takes, double your fun in the unedited version of this episode's recordings, which you should watch/listen to! Head on over here to join the family and support our journey, while taking advantage of other perks:

David Cameo:
Rachael Burt:
Sherrandy Swift:
AKA @BlazyGardener

  • 🚨Rank Cosplays; Win Prizes: SQUAWKING DEAD's Spooky SQUAWKtober Cosplay Contest!
  • Baby Morgan's annoying cries. Sherrandy makes Dave spit his drink
  • But didn't Grace Mukherjee kill Fred? leaving her, Bea, to "spend whatever time she has left" with whom...?
  • June Dorie is perfect. Right? Right. Uh...
  • Morgan Jones quickly relives his beginning's end (a la the pilot episode of The Walking Dead).
  • Timelines: Uh, so when are we...?
  • Similarities between episode 5x10, "210 Words per Minute"
  • Why we need Robert Kirkman to voice all the characters when he finally makes the audio books.
  • Grace rides a pinto of a vastly different color.
  • "I’m right here" Grace is a far darker mirror of Morgan.
  • The 200-mile fallout radius and weather patterns carrying it all the way to Louisiana: why that makes our heart sink.
  • Sherrandy theorizes the nuclear events on Fear The Walking Dead predicate The Civic Republic Military's actions against Campus Colony / Omaha's genocide, today. Why it also might be Portland, Texas, not Portland, Oregon.
  • Maps of meaning: retracing why the bombs landed the way they did and why it means something that the CRM didn't do anything about it.
  • Morgan chose poorly: Dave's aforementioned scenario of possibly putting Grace above the group had happened, already (when he gave Riley the nuclear submarine key under Grace's "advisement")
  • Food under floor panels, like Connie's stash in Episode 9x13 of TWD. Where are the sub keys, now?
  • Meeting Josiah LaRoux, Emile LaRoux’s twin, and his Shovel Pick. Fickle Rufus...
  • Beta Burns: a never-ending, painful sunburn.
  • Grace’s indomitable patience with Baby Mo's constant crying. Baby Mo crawling (at about 6-9 months) gives us a possible timeline marker.
  • Frustration: Fred shoots the can of powdered milk, exposing the contents. Why the hazmat suits are only partial protection.
  • Baby Please Forgive Me, Grace Tennessee as the other Grace is trying to put baby Mo to sleep the first time: can't help thinking about the loss of Athena.
  • Cabin on the Hill, Flatt & Scruggs and Foggy Mountain Boys. Earl Skruggs was born where Sherrandy lives. Plays just after Morgan comes back from his stint outside and Grace is waking up after a nap. This song leads us to believe that Grace is dreaming of Athena.
  • I'll Put That Gambling Down, Reggie Taylor. Plays just as Grace & Morgan leave the sub. Might be alluding to Morgan's "this time it'll be different" and "we can fix it" attitude. If Morgan was a gambler though...
  • Victor Strand wants everyone to see what he’s built, but might show them the door or, worse, the roof afterwards...
  • Untie the Ribbon, Wanda Johnson. Lyrics. Plays the very next scene after they leave the sub, driving through the night. Foreshadows Grace's equally bad choices of enduring or abandoning Morgan & Baby Mo.
  • It’s time to quit crying, Frank Fafara. Editor's note: haunting, but beautiful. Plays in the aftermath, as they leave Bea, signaling Grace's decision to end her mourning and accepting her brokenness and the brokenness around her.
  • Grace sings to Baby Mo: discussing the authenticity of that moment by way of Rachael's personal life. Dave actually proves he can connect with an animal via a touching and personal story.
  • Old dog Rufus, not really helping with the crying baby situation...
  • Though we all want what's best for Baby Mo, and the best that we know of might be Strand's palace, we all enjoyed Grace turning down Howard's offer, because of what it means.

[Episode 158] The Walking Dead: World Beyond |2x03| Exit Wounds

Just when #JenniferMallick thought she might have one good day, #LeoBennett comes in like a wrecking ball and turns her world beyond upside-down. Between that, the knowledge that her clemency may have come at a cost (even though she's choosing to focus on the positive), and how (by the end of it) Percy is gunning for her, it seems like Huck is beset on all sides.
So, here's the deal, after we ended the recording, we decided to jump down the science rabbit hole and discuss the formula on #TBrooksEllis ' digital board, which was pretty fun. Between the behind-the-scenes pre-show and the many laughs & hilarious technical difficulties, why not support the #podcast and download/stream the Unedited Episode Recording?

David Cameo:
Rachael Burt:
Sherrandy Swift:
AKA @BlazyGardener

πŸŽ–SURVIVORS TIER MEMBERS:
Jasmine:

  • Why Exit Wounds? Dennis' mistake causing Jennifer Mallick to leave (not just Percy Delmado's wound).
  • But were Percy & Tony Delmado's lives peachy? Performers without crowds that now have an audience.
  • Iris Bennett "treating" Percy; Percy is otherwise distracted. And every day isn't like the last.
  • Hoes in other area codes: But are other settlements the exception, not the rule? And The Walking Dead: World Beyond is only a short time behind The Walking Dead (flagship show)
  • Tying up poor horses and Dakota firepits. Elton Ortiz finally hauling ass (for turnips?!)
  • Turns out Dave was right about Perimeter colony protecting the Civic Republic Research Facility (by way of radioactive waste warnings). Callbacks to Siddiq (by way of calling Empties "Vessels") and Elton is the Carl Grimes of the show?
  • Sherrandy's amazing theory of why Omaha/Campus Colony were going to be threats to the Civic Republic Military. Dave takes it a little further.
  • Still trying to associate Huck saving the colony dwellers during the fall (when she was a Marine). "Beauty in the darkness" (the essence of TWD World Beyond): because why focus on the negative?
  • Etymology of Asha & Dev. Elton's devastation and resemblance to John Dorie (of Fear The Walking Dead).
  • Empties/Vessels in the clearing were not Asha & Dev's doing and the flaw in Dennis' logic about the Culling Facilities. Filming inconsistencies.
  • T. Brooks Ellis, Eugene Porter's mentor at The Human Genome Project, is Hope Bennett's professor.
  • Parallels to the Bennett sister's asking Silas Plaskett to their party in the pilot to Mason inviting hope to the Omaha remembrance party. Hope still having flashbacks to their journey wakes her into action: seeking out Iris and Felix Carlucci.
  • More hints that The Civic Republic is a string of settlements, united as one (E Pluribus Unum) and Portland's potential dark fate(?).
  • Leo Bennett may not be aware of Lyla Belshaw's special lab where (walker) Dr. Samuel Abbott is kept. Hope may be on her way to figuring this out.
  • At Mason's party, Omaha's symbol is placed on a "neutralization" vat: twisted. SURVIVORS tier member, Jasmine, trusts Mason.
  • Second Chances: Iris might eat her words about Percy's loss and moving on; Hope might instinctually take her advice. How their father factors into this calculus.
  • The significance of using Jenga as a parallel to The Civic Republic.
  • It Only Takes One Night by Dum Dum Girls and it's connection to Dennis' relationship with Huck and, also, the destruction of Omaha/Campus Colony (possibly Portland). Corporal Pierce may already be monitoring Staff Sergeant Mallick's movements (how the CRM roles).
  • Will Percy pull back? The Perimeter will most-likely side with Jennifer in the event of a conflict (also, Huck's corpse would mean their destruction).
  • Leo's confrontation with Huck (or whatever she calls herself) speaks to something greater than getting his family back.
  • Jasmine expertly follows Dr. Ellis science, whether intentionally faulty or not. Either way, he seems like a Fungi.

#FearTWD is BACK! ...but seriously, did it ever leave us?! Just like #TWDWorldBeyond, #FearTheWalkingDead gives us a slow-burn return into the Nuclear #ZombieApocalypse by way of *WILL* then goes zero-to-sixty by "yeeting" that slow-burn right off a roof.
NO JOKE: I have never in my life edited a more funny episode, most of which simply cannot see the light of day for too many reasons! To get access to this and support our #podcast in the process, please head here:

David Cameo:
Rachael Burt:
Sherrandy Swift:
AKA @BlazyGardener
@MegTheGeek:

  • Trying to get a grip on both the show's timeline and our real life one
  • Lydia S. tells us that there is only one St. Christopher Medallion.
  • Meg dislikes anthology-based episodes, wanted to see more characters. Why she might be further disappointed, this season. Rachael: Cinematography, effort in set design was amazing. Is satisfied with Victor Strand leaning into badness. Sherrandy enjoyed this Strand-focused episode.
  • Strand resuming the original Dave Erickson big-bad roadmap meant for Madison Clark.
  • Dave really enjoyed the pacing and directing this season premiere. Huge shout-out to Michael Satrazemis. Mentioning Channing Powell's similar trajectory (who is now showrunner of Tales of The Walking Dead).
  • George Washington Hockley, secretary of war under then Governor Sam Houston, his sword, The Twin Sisters, and The War of 1812 / Texas Independence.
  • Gauging Howard. Possible big-bad? Loves middle-management (like Gavin).
  • Will's (shaky) origin, relationship with Alicia Clark, and The Franklin Hotel. And the overall #TWDUniverse timeline.
  • What Padre might mean. But also, what if Alicia takes on the roll of cult leader?
  • Foreshadowing Victor's death via Alicia's mural (is Will real?).
  • Why does Will keep Victor alive, considering the state of the world and how Victor tried to kill him 3 times?
  • Even though Will seems surprised by it, could the thing that he was supposed to do have been the downfall of the bunker residents? And there's too much symbolism between Victor and Will.
  • Was Victor always a bad guy? How we feel about him tilting towards badness. What it also means that he rejects love. Was the demise of the Clarks Strand all along. Is this Strand's last season?
  • Stand's sense of fashion, how it's evolved over the years, and the sum total of influences that create this mish-mash of who he is now. Is he still not yet who he is meant to be?
  • Good guys are bad guys are good guys! Eeep!
  • There are too many allusions to Alicia having run The Franklin Hotel bunker like The Holding from last season and the color green popping up means poison/rot (as it pertains to Victor's title card, as well).
  • Taunting Meg about the Title Intro Sequence music. They are sending subliminal messages to cancel us.
  • An exasperated Meg loves Will's death and how it reminds her of Rachael's make-up talents (but also Rachael's trauma over Glenn Rhee).
  • Odds and ends: Victor should've had a Hwacha; Built Walker tough (using Walkers to transport things); How Victor uses Morgan Jones' word for zombies: walkers.
  • What are the Stalkers and why do they strip the dead? What we know about Will is just the tip of the iceberg: he hesitates before ending the walker in the lighthouse. And what about this funky lighthouse?
  • OK, we have to talk about animals amidst the fallout...
  • Meg's bone to pick about diesel might not be the Hanukkah Miracle we thought it was: it might be a good indicator of how long it's been since the bombs dropped.
  • Will is sus because we see him near The Franklin (or at least a billboard of it) in the beginning. Was he really yeeted from the bunker?
  • Clarifying we may see Alycia Debnam-Carey sooner than later and she will be directing an episode in Season 7

This episode was far better received than the last, as the doors into insights regarding the #CivicRepublic / #CivicRepublicMilitary nearly blow right open. It's almost as if the 1st two episodes either play on one another or were supposed to be a part of a larger, 2-part #SeasonPremiere. Either way, we're glad to have it, along with the introduction of "Dennis" ( #MaximilianOsinski ) and the return of fan-favorite #SilasPlaskett ( #HalCumpston )

  • Well-wishes to u/Connected-VG who was hospitalized with COVID-19. He's an admin of r/FearTheWalkingDead.
  • Everyone seemed to enjoy this episode a lot more than the first: A lot clearer, more insight into the Civic Republic's "RF".
  • Had this not occurred, then that wouldn't haveLeo Bennett finds the positive in Lyla Belshaw's deception. And in spite of Lyla's mindfulness, she "forgets" her earrings in Leo's bathroom.
  • Leo sees himself as a partner in the CR, Lyla is a true-believer (who is experiencing conflict?), and nailing down how long Leo has been away from his daughters.
  • Leo plays mind-chess with Lt. Col. Elizabeth Kublek. Leo's definition of "saving humanity" (spoiler: offspring) and how (spoiler: not that) far Kublek might go for her daughter, Huck/Jennifer Mallick.
  • Nailing down The Perimeter's reason for being: protecting the Civic Republic Military's interests.
  • Felix Carlucci is loud in this scene, then you can barely hear Iris Bennett in that scene, and possibly why.
  • Iris figures out what Leo is struggling to piece together about the Civic Republic Military: why, despite oceans of gripes, the show might spend extra effort convincing you Iris has value as a character.
  • Drilling down on why it is you, dear watcher, might dislike/hate Iris.
  • Why Kublek doesn't take Leo's spoken reasons for saving humanity at face value. Leo's & Hope Bennett's lack of choice (Campus Colony vs The CR). To whom your sacrifices belong (the collective vs direct descendants). Thinking global vs local. What Leo's death will mean to those who love him.
  • The 1st two episodes show the contrasts between them: dark vs light; the wild vs safety; surviving vs comfort; the evils vs the benefits. Contrasts between the two seasons: where are first we were uniting, we might be separating this time. Rachael hates being manipulated (by Dave)
  • Leo may have stumbled onto and tapped into The Walking Dead's philosophy (the idealized self). The CR is remaking this dead world in their own image (in contrast the The Commonwealth).
  • Agents of Dennis (Maximilian Osinski) and comparing him to Jayson Warner Smith's "Gavin" (on TWD). Dave is manipulated by Rachael about Teo Rapp-Olsson's age (plays Sebastian Milton on TWD).
  • What is Dennis and the rest of these neutralizers doing out there? Is he a true believer? Trying to get Silas to spill the beans another way.
  • Delivering the B-Oh-Four to the CR RF. Stage 2? Stage 6?
  • Did Leo hide code in the messages The CR intercepted to his daughters (callback to John Dorie's letters to June Dorie in Fear The Walking Dead). Mason... (Belshaw?) is spying on the scientists?
  • If the tracked Dead Ones are 'B's and 'A's are Dum-Dums, too, does that mean Rick Grimes is just dead meat?!
  • Everyone, everywhere, is doing their part to end the Zombie Apocalypse. Dennis may have made a mistake he's paying for, but (according to The Allman Brothers Band), Huck might be trouble.
  • The Perimeter colony know about Jennifer... which supports our theory that she may have saved most of them from her brothers during the fall. Iris is, again, showing how smart she is to Felix (figuring out Huck is Kublek's daughter)

You'd think, in the #TWD's final season, they wouldn't be introducing such fascinating characters like #LeahShaw, who is (as of the end of this episode) the #ReaperQueen. But here we are: Pope is dead (long live #RitchieCoster: a BRILLIANT actor, gone too soon), #DarylDixon, #MaggieRhee, #Negan, and Elijah are (hopefully) on the run, and who knows where Leah's mindset truly lies? Meanwhile, will #TheCommonwealth swoop in on time to assist #AlexandriaSafeZone or arrive amidst the aftermath, in order to salvage potential Nasties/Plebeians?
After hacking, slashing, and burning this episode down to just under 2 hours, you best BELIEVE there's a decent amount of pre-show and post-show, plus all the edits you can handle in between. And, keep in mind, we should a WHOLE LOT smarter in the final edit! Support our podcast? Buy us a Coffee! ...or maybe even join a membership tier?

Aliza J:

  • 🚨SUBMISSIONS to our Spooky SQUAWKtober Cosplay Contest are CLOSING!
  • When Leah Shaw tells The Reapers that Daryl Dixon killed Pope
  • Elijah caught some shrapnel: We know walkers prefer fresh blood.
  • We wanted to hear Pope's side of the story of what happened between he and Maggie Rhee.
  • Negan reminds us that our group has been brutal, too: How Aaron got Gracie.
  • Kill everything before it can kill you(?)
  • Bossie was the first Reaper that Pope kills
  • Reapers are in a constant offensive, war-like state: everyone is an/the/my enemy.
  • Leah considering an alternative lifestyle? …happiness, perhaps?
  • Did Leah just mark Daryl?
  • Hwacha is a late 16th, early 17th century Korean weapon used in sieges.
  • We’re sad we don’t get to have more screen time with Ritchie Coster.
  • Between Leah & Daryl, who does Dog Dixon choose?
  • Aidan: Pope loses his mind much like Shane Walsh.
  • The distance between Meridian from Alexandria Safe-Zone.
  • The sinking feeling that Maggie may have returned to receive help for (what's left of) her current family, not necessarily to assist the family she left behind.
  • (Not really) Feeling a connection to Elijah, seeing his sister as a walker
  • Leah may have suspected Daryl was lying to her the whole time, "It’s hard to watch someone you care about change when they're hurting people you care about too."
  • Should Daryl have confessed to Leah earlier? Would it have made a difference?
  • Daryl and Leah will never chose each other over their respective families.
  • Pope may have foretold his own death when telling Daryl about his rescue dog, Tick.
  • Is it fulfilling enough for Daryl to live in service of others? Does love get you killed? Can you escape it?
  • Pope was about to kill his own people (again), Leah's family, which is why she has to kill him. Daryl, too?
  • Dog better survive the battle at Meridian. Are dogs people?
  • Rosita Espinosa’s multi-faceted badassery and how her training, in early Season 10, finally bears fruit.
  • How Rosita survives where Reaper, Paul Wells, in a similar situation does not. He goes out similarly to Paul "Jesus" Rovia when he/we encountered The Whisperers.
  • Aliza is worried about Lydia, as she was last one holding the front door before walkers busted through it. Rachael is worried about Connie, leaving with Carol.
  • Second callback (the 1st was Rosita's pose in the doorway) to Close Your Eyes (Fear The Walking Dead 4x10): Judith Grimes & Gracie stuck in the basement like Alicia Clark & Charlie.
  • Aaron describes what it means to be a leader, in contrast to Pope in the scene just prior. But is Gracie wrong? Shouldn't Aaron stay behind more?
  • Where is Jerry?!
  • Antony Azor effectively delivers a line as R.J. Grimes!
  • Aidan predicts Father Gabriel will be our first significant death.
  • Who's graves is Reaper Mancea praying over and why Gabe abstained from killing/reporting on his encounter with him: https://screenrant.com/walking-dead-gabriel-reaper-not-kill-maggie-lie/
  • Gabe's smile when he finds the rifle. Maggie the Grouch and they way she and Gabe emerged under Meridian's refuse.
  • How touching it was that Connie proactively wants to go with Carol and whether that closes the book on that arc.
  • Magna possibly continuing to deflect her own guilty/resentful feelings towards Carol.
  • "The One" with whom Elijah is seeking revenge.
  • Using your fear, like Judith tells Gracie, and why it's ok that Gracie didn't.
  • Alden's fate!
  • But why weren't we concerned for Maggie et al as the hwacha goes off?
  • One of The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, "The Dark Horse Famine", was in charge of food distribution and used the Scales of Justice in the process: The reapers must be on the side of the righteous.
  • Questions that still need answering: The sparked ignited the feud between Pope & Maggie.
  • Aidan's twisted intro for Angela Kang’s new podcast, which pulverizes episodes of SQUAWKING DEAD. gulp
  • Will Carol and Leah ever meet?

BE ON THE LOOKOUT for flying BONES that were PICKED this episode, as we sorted out the graveyard of hallucinatory misunderstandings and incredulous feats. That aside, although the Season 2 Premiere was on the underwhelming side, the implications set forth in this episode are anything but and allowed us to extrapolate a whole lot (we'd be lying if #MattNegrete's Inside the Episode exclusive, for #AMCPlus subscribers didn't help a bit, which is another critique on the episode)

  • 🚨You only have a few days left to enter our Spooky SQUAWKtober Cosplay Contest where cosplayers compete for real prizes! Head here to see the prizes and rules!
  • Not a very well-received return: the amount expectations play into our enjoyment and Hope Bennett's hallucination pissed the girls off, for various reasons.
  • Speaking of Hope's tumble, it evoked memories of the Fear The Walking Dead pilot (school Madison Clark taught in). Also calls us back to last season.
  • Hope was having her hallucination walkabout in a school, but was Iris Bennett's dream situated in a school, too?
  • The Bennett sisters' role reversal has never been more clear than in this episode (even though we saw scattered moments in last season).
  • Felix Carlucci's birthday took place in the pilot and Iris' is in this episode. Which brings us to how well they explained the span of time from the start of the series to even the events of this episode.
  • Speaking of Felix, making himself a home with Will Campbell (amidst the realization of the loss of Campus Colony), I think we all would love to live in The Perimeter/The Hudson Valley (Upstate New York).
  • The sculpure they pass on the way into the Perimeter colony is called VeritΓ© ("Truth" in French): More breadcrumbs that drop that ultimately lead to Iris figuring out that it was the Civic Republic Military that was responsible for the destruction of both Omaha and Campus Colony.
  • VeritΓ© et Konsekans = Truth and Consequences. There will be consequences for finding out the truth.
  • Even the best and brightest would end up like Candice Froder: You need someone (Indira) or something (Lt. Col. Elizabeth Kublek) to fight for. Think local or think global?
  • This season will definitively answer the question of why the CRM genocides Omaha & Campus Colony.
  • Maximum Cohesion is required to ultimately survive? And playing the game of why Kublek and The Civic Republic may be right. Forbidden Truth and comparisons to The Commonwealth.
  • Huck's Conundrum: Her warning to Hope about telling Kublek everything... especially the code-breaking.
  • No, Iris is not a psychic, but with a mind that has advanced pattern recognition and genius level comprehension... Attempting to count the breadcrumbs that lead to her horrific discovery.
  • Hope without Iris is a little lost on the fall of their home and Omaha: This season may shine a light on Iris this season, over Hope (from last season).
  • Exploring the all the angles of the incredulous fight between Iris and the CRM soldier.
  • CRM Soldiers wear the helmets that they do much in the way executioners wear hoods. It's an odd feeling to watch the unmasked soldier, an actual person, die.
  • The discomfort in knowing The Civic Republic has positioned themselves as humanity's last hope (right after they destroy Portland)
  • Major General Beale might be Anne/Jadis? ...and how people are begging for more Rick Grimes clues (or else they will go feral).
  • I know this Season Premiere didn't meet built-in expectations and you wanted to see all the characters, but that might've been a good idea (exploring characters before they meet again). Rachael tries to simmer down expectations with FearTWD, because of this.
  • Trying not to take it personally when people "criticize" the characters we love, like Carol Peletier or Morgan Jones, and why it's good that they don't behave like we do.
  • Even though a majority didn't understand Hope's hallucinations, the only thing that matters is what her warped visions showed us: touching on scenes and settlings the audience is familiar with to echo her journey this far, with the unimaginable destruction that has befallen those very settings, and what Hope concludes is the thing she must fight against.
  • Hope thinks locally and heals the fissures between her and her father for her birthday.
  • Highlighting Anna Khaja who plays Indira.
  • Hope thinking beyond the CRM's desires means that maybe we should keep an open mind about Iris' ability to take them down? Seems unimaginably impossible from our POV, but you never know!
  • Kublek knows she's not the best and the brightest and a true believer. She would gladly lay her life on the line for The Civic Republic's brighter future. But what about Rick Grimes?  Being a 'B' might be a living test subject.
